INRETS Road Equipement Test Laboratory
In
parallel to its experimental activities, L.I.E.R. has acquired significant
experience in the computer modelling of crash tests on road safety systems.
With its significant experience and expertise in the field of road safety
system testing, the laboratory has an incomparable experimental validation resources for the development of reliable computer models.
L.I.E.R. offers to its clients different
types of studies depending on their objectives.
It can be either the development of new road devices or the modification of
existing devices. In both cases, L.I.E.R. has to perform in-depth studies using
optimisation techniques.
The hub of the system used for simulation is the finite-element explicit
calculation solver (Ls-Dyna®) which is complemented by the programs needed to
create models of all types of system and all types of material.
Furthermore, L.I.E.R. has at its disposal a
library of vehicle models and a bespoke tool, the BarrLier software which aids creation of data and the analysis of
experimental design results and which refers directly to the impact conditions
defined by the European standard EN1317.
